The Evolution of Super Nupe – Part 6

The Evolution of Super Nupe – Part 6

Meanwhile, back at Lore, (picking up from Part 3 where we left the pin) we continued to learn and crystalize our vision, but we were progressing slowly with the development of the Kappa Man articulated figure. It was during this time that we decided to pivot from an articulated figure to a stationary one. This would allow us to get our first release into the hands of the Nupes by crossing season of 2025 and well before the upcoming Konklave. This was a timely decision and in changing direction we needed to commit to a pose that would be relatable to everyone.

We knew that we wanted to do something that was different from Kappa Man. It not only had to be different, but it still needed to appeal to Nupes of all ages from any era. After much thought and many discussions, we remembered Brother Williams’ black superhero speech which led us to the drawing that I did. Ultimately, we decided to go with the superhero pose with the Diamond K on the chest.

The drawing was the start, but we wanted to push it more by making him a little more exaggerated. It was at this time that we ditched the Afro and reverted back the to the tight fade from my original sketches. We had our black superhero, but he didn’t have a name.
